Ride Description

Join Rolling Thunder Harley-Davidson from September 23rd to October 1st.

DAY One: Sunday 23rd Sept meet at Mobil Kaiapoi 7am, leaving 7:15am to catch the 2:00pm sailing (Kaitaki) to Wellington. (All fuel up in Picton) we will ride straight out of Wellington for a 284km ride to Ohakune where we will be staying at Ohakune TOP 10 Holiday Park, 5 Moore St Ohakune ph 06-385-8561 they have a large variety of cabin options at very reasonable prices. (Must quote Rolling Thunder to get single night booking )

Day Two: Monday 24th Sept, up early leaving at 6am for a 607km ride to Paihia, we will stop and have breakfast on the way (leaving early means we will be traveling through Auckland around mid-day to avoid traffic jams) once out of Auckland stop for lunch and re fresh in (North Gate, Orewa, Fuel, food, pre pay tolls) from there its only 214km cruise to Paihia where we will be staying at the Paihia top 10 1290 Paihia road ph 09-402-7678 ( There is a holiday house in the camp available sleeps 11 people with flat rate $400 per night)

Day Three: Tuesday 25th Sept Total Rest Day (anything and everything up for negation)

Day Four: Wednesday 26th Sept make our way to the very top, Cape Reinga it’s a 420km round trip and definitely something to be ticked off the bucket list!

Day Five: Thursday 27th Sept visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds (Tick of another thing of the bucket list) then head over to Russell, and travel around surrounding areas.

Day Six: Friday 28th Sept get up early and set of for a fantastic 657km ride down to the mighty Hawkes Bay, traveling through Rotorua national parks, Lake Taupo slowly making our way down to Kennedy Top 10 Park Napier 11 Storkey St Marewa. Ph 06- 843- 9126

Day Seven: Saturday 29th Sept head off to the water front for breakfast, then make our way down to the Hawkes Bay Motorcycle Club event called the spring run, to contribute our support for a charity poker run all moneys goes to kids canteen.

Day Eight: Sunday 30th Sept time to make our way down to Wellington breakfast on the way and crossing over on the 2:45pm Ferry (Aratere) back to Picton where we will stay the night at the Gateway motel 32 High Street Picton Ph. 035736398

Day Nine: Monday 30th get up, have breakfast and start rolling to complete the final leg back to Christchurch.
